Overview
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to mine planning and optimisation for both open pit and underground mining operations. Participants will explore mine design, scheduling, optimisation techniques, risk management, and regulatory compliance within the context of Mineral Resource Management. The course examines the mine planning cycle, constraints analysis, and the impact of emerging technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution on mining practices. Participants will also develop practical skills to optimise resource extraction, improve operational efficiency, and support informed decision making in mine planning and resource management environments. A quality-assured certificate from the University of the Witwatersrand is issued on successful completion.
