    • Greetings, introductions, and farewells
    • Formal and informal language
    • How to participate in first conversations
    • Common expressions of politeness
    • Placing a simple order
    • Talking about objects in the immediate environment
    • Booking accommodation
    • Describing one's routine
    • Talking about one's occupation
    • Making a social arrangement
    • Asking for and giving basic directions and information about dates and time
    • Listening to and understanding short dialogues between first language speakers
    • Listening to and understanding short descriptive oral texts describing a situation, place, or event
    • Reading and understanding forms, menus, timetables, shop signs, short personal notes and letters, simplified brochures, adverts, and posters
    • Writing simple, syntactically correct sentences and short paragraphs about personal topics
    • Filling in a basic form and writing a short personal note or message
    • Using language forms such as personal pronouns, adjectives, prepositions and common nouns; applying principles of masculinity and femininity; asking informational questions; and using simple tenses
    • Vocabulary needed to perform functions in the outcomes of the course
    • Discussing cultural aspects of the language when using it in various social contexts
