Introduction to Statistical Evaluation of Mineral Deposits (MRM 4)

Overview

This course provides the statistical tools and techniques essential for analysing ore body data and estimating mineral reserves with confidence. Covering both normal and lognormal distributions, hypothesis testing, regression methods, and grade-tonnage analysis, the course equips students to interpret geological data accurately and assess reserve reliability throughout a mining project's life cycle. Designed for professionals across geology, mine planning, metallurgy, surveying, and mineral resource management, it develops the problem-solving skills needed to evaluate ore reserves in complex or non-standard situations and supports more advanced work in Mineral Resource Management. A quality-assured certificate from the University of the Witwatersrand is issued on successful completion.
