The course content addresses the following topics:
- Review of forms and uses of modal auxiliary verbs
- Distinguishing the future forms 'will do', 'shall do', and 'going to do'
- Identifying and using future perfect and future continuous tenses and zero, first, second, and third conditionals
- Distinguishing between '-ed' and '-ing' adjectives, comparative and superlative adjectives, and relative clauses
- Using countable and uncountable nouns with reference to quantity
- Identifying and using common verb-noun collocations, adverbs and adjectives, and definite and indefinite articles
- Distinguishing homophones and homonyms Creating new words with prefixes and suffixes, idiomatic expressions, and conjunctions to contrast and compare ideas
- Using correct punctuation and identifying and using symbols for correction
- Writing reports, letters, compositions, by reading longer passages and by listening to longer passages and conversations
- Extended and complex spoken and written texts
- Inferring meaning, tone, and attitude from context and discourse markers
- Using advanced discourse markers and signposting language
