- Using prepositions in time expressions correctly
- Using comparatives and superlatives with 'as ... as', 'less ... than' and 'ever' with the present perfect tense
- Using present and past continuous and perfect tenses; 'for' and 'since' in the present perfect tense
- Forming questions with all the tenses using wh- and yes/no questions
- 'have' vs 'have got' and 'have got to', 'should' and 'must'
- Using verb patterns including 'want', 'hope', 'enjoy' and 'like'
- 'be going to' vs 'will'
- Distinguishing -ing and -ed adjectives
- Identifying the main and modal auxiliaries
- Distinguishing between related conjunctions: 'but' and 'however', 'while', 'during' and 'for'
- Distinguishing between 'a few', 'a little' and 'a lot of'
- Using the definite and indefinite articles ('the' and 'a/an') correctly
- Using correct punctuation: commas, full stops, question marks, captial letters, exclamation marks, hyphens, semi-colons and inverted commas
- Identifying suffixes used to make different parts of speech
- Identifying prefixes used to form the negative
- Identifying parts of speech: adjectives and prepositions
- Identifying and using synonyms and antonyms
- Using the time clauses with 'when' and 'as soon as'
