The course content addresses the following topics:
- Greetings and introductions
- Vocabulary: the classroom, numbers 1 to 100, prices, months and seasons, days of the week, rooms, furniture, basic colours, countries and nationalities, occupations and professions, family members
- Spelling and pronunciation of new vocabulary
- Introduction to telling time
- Listening to songs and short conversations
- Writing an email message, filling in a form
- The verb 'to be' and 'there is'/'there are'
- Using wh- words to talk about oneself and ask questions about others
- Personal and possessive pronouns (except for the possessive -s)
- The present simple tense in affirmative, negative, and question forms
- Adverbs of frequency to discuss one's daily routine (e.g. 'always', 'sometimes', 'never')
- Common irregular verbs such as 'have', 'go' and 'get'
- Using 'can' and 'can't' for permission and ability
- Word order in simple questions
- Parts of speech of new vocabulary
- Using 'want', 'like' and 'would like'
- Simple punctuation such as commas, full stops, question marks and capital letters
- This, that, these, and those
- Introduction to the past simple and present continuous tenses
- Identifying basic parts of speech
