This is training offered by FASSET to trade unions representatives within the FASSET Sector ONLY!

The primary objective of the course is to provide delegates with the practical skills to prepare and conduct a successful conciliation/mediation process

Conflict is inherent and dynamic. Legal systems attempt to manage this conflict. Often the traditional methods of resolving conflict do not allow for the effective resolution of conflict. Appropriate/Alternative Dispute Resolution focuses on alternative methods of resolving conflict.

Formal legal systems are developing to include mediation as a primary means of resolving conflict. This requires one, to develop a new set of skills.
The purpose of the course is to understand the nature of conflict and discover appropriate responses The learner will acquire a practical understanding of conflict management, conciliation skills, social justice, ethics and diversity. The course is practical.

At the end of the course the student will know how to prepare for mediation, how to present and conduct a mediation and how to draft a workable settlement agreement.

This programme is aimed at lawyers, employer organisation representatives, trade union representatives, Human Resources and Industrial relations specialists.

    Course reviews

    • MAP was a great introduction to the commercial side of the business for a health professional like myself. I am now able to identify and leverage synergies between my department and others in the organisation. Because of the diversity and calibre of its students, WBS has helped me increase my network and I have recommended MAP to a number of my colleagues. It was an investment worth more than the rand value of the course – and motivated me to do my MBA!

    • Doing NMP with WBS has provided me with the basic and highly valuable skills as I prepare myself for a leadership role within my organisation. The programme had practical examples which I could relate to my real situation at work.
