Overview
This course provides a practical and conceptual understanding of the application of geophysical techniques in mineral exploration across a range of geological terranes and ore deposit types. Participants examine the strengths and limitations of key geophysical methods, including gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, and seismic techniques, and their use at regional, prospect, and mine scales. Emphasis is placed on survey design, method selection, and the integration of multiple geophysical datasets using computer-based tools. Through applied exercises and assessments, students develop the ability to interpret geophysical data coherently and generate well-supported exploration targets. A quality-assured certificate from the University of the Witwatersrand is issued on successful completion.

    Course reviews

    • MAP was a great introduction to the commercial side of the business for a health professional like myself. I am now able to identify and leverage synergies between my department and others in the organisation. Because of the diversity and calibre of its students, WBS has helped me increase my network and I have recommended MAP to a number of my colleagues. It was an investment worth more than the rand value of the course – and motivated me to do my MBA!
