Overview
This course introduces students to the law of contracts as applied to construction and professional consultancy agreements in South Africa's infrastructure, energy, and natural resources sectors. Students engage with legal and technical principles while comparing key procurement methodologies. The course provides a detailed analysis of FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, and PROCSA contracts, examining multiple editions and their practical applications. Through role plays and assessments, participants learn to interpret, compare, and administer standard form contracts effectively. Designed for legal and industry professionals, the course equips students with practical skills to manage construction projects on time and within budget. A quality-assured certificate from the University of the Witwatersrand is issued on successful completion.
