Overview
Communicative English is a course designed for students who would like to improve their grammar knowledge and enhance their editing skills. This course is also designed to improve the coherence and cohesion of students' writing.

    The course content addresses the following topics:

    • The writing process (planning, crafting, drafting, editing, revising, proofreading)
    • Proofreading and editing a text for sentence structure, paragraph structure, organisation of information, word choice, punctuation, spelling, word forms, number, register, and basic grammar 
    • General, Descriptive, Example, Process, Opinion, and Narrative paragraphs
    • Reading and listening for main idea, supporting information, detail, and understanding
    • Speaking with fluency, coherency, grammatical range and accuracy 
    • Appropriate vocabulary use and pronunciation
    • Punctuation, parts of speech, active and stative verbs, imperative verbs, modal verbs of probability
    • Past perfect and past perfect continuous tense in the active voice and passive voice in the present simple, past simple and future simple tense
    • Future aspect of tenses in the active voice: "will" and "going to" for prediction, future continuous, future perfect and future perfect continuous
    • Subject-verb agreement/concord for compound subjects, indefinite nouns, collective nouns, and interrupters
    • Vocabulary: phrasal verbs: preposition collocations, and informal and formal register
