Overview
Climate Change and Energy Law will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the international climate change regime, South African climate change policy, and the country's commitment to mitigate its greenhouse gas emissions. The course will thereafter examine, from the perspective of meeting demand for electricity and transport fuels in light of South Africa's climate change obligations, the governance and regulation of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), unconventional gas (fracking), nuclear power, and renewable energy.
Duration
This is a semester-long course where participants attend evening lectures from 17:30 to 19:00 once a week during the period 22 July to 28 October 2025..
Format
Courses might be delivered through blended learning. Students are required to have basic computer skills and stable internet connection.
